The new single is my humorous take on the futility of life. I wanted to elicit a happy feeling while poking fun at the dark reality that your most cherished moments will all end. However, I want the message to be that despite the inevitability of death and hardships, everyone should enjoy the time they get to spend with their loved ones, in the meantime.

While in the studio, my band partner Troy convinced me to lay down this song. At the time, I didn’t think it was an important track. In hindsight, I am very glad that we did as it has become a new personal favorite.
One day I realized that pretty much everything we do in life, our careers, our hobbies, our relationships, everything, it’s all a distraction from the inevitable reality that every one of us are going to die. We don’t like to think about it, so we stay busy. That’s what inspired the song lyrics.
I wrote this nice happy sounding riff, because I didn’t want the song to feel as dark and depressing as the lyrical content suggests.
I wanted to create a very happy sounding song, about a very sad idea. I enjoy the contradiction. The song is just an observation, and you have to be able to laugh at the dark stuff. It’s meant to be more of a light-hearted joke on the whole idea.
Creating the video for this tune was a lot of fun as well. I spent hours playing with my daughter’s fridge magnets, which lead to what I think is a pretty cool, zero budget video. I think my whole family may have thought I was a little bit insane for a bit… ‘till they saw a draft of what I was making. It was funny, and maybe still a bit insane.
This is the first and the most melo single of many singles to come. Stay tuned!
